Balsa
The Story
Balsa is a member of the mallow family. It grows extremely rapidly, up to 90 ft (27m) in 10–15 years. The speed of growth accounts for the lightness of the wood. Because it is low-density but high in strength, Balsa is a very popular material to use when model making and the very first models of Balsa Flatware were made using this versatile wood.

The Details
Balsa cutlery was sculpted by William in balsa wood, carving slices into the wood – creating minimal straight lines and simplest design details. Soft edges were then sanded around each piece making the cutlery feel wonderful to hold. The knife has a hook on the bottom of the handle which sits over your little finger when you hold the knife, the feeling is tactile and very reassuring. Balsa is made in 18/10 stainless steel and is available in mirror finish only.
