Royal Oak

The Royal Oak Tree
The Oak tree is one of the most iconic trees in the UK today. Known for their acorns and overall size, with trunks which can grow over 8 metres wide. Popular as ornamental trees but also used as timber for period roof construction and hand-made furniture. Historically, after escaping the Battle of Worcester in 1651, the future King Charles II travelled Northwards, hiding in an oak tree to avoid Roundhead soldiers. This gave the oak it’s royal title. An ancient Oak, believed to be a descendant of this tree, still stands today at Boscobel in Shropshire.

The Design Inspiration
Royal Oak cutlery is a “transitional design” as William calls it, meaning old meets new. On the face, is a mirror polished, smooth, elegant round handled cutlery design (modern), but underneath each handle lays a secret to be discovered: the historic ‘King’s Pattern’ pressed into each handle (traditional). A surprise to discover, or a decoration to display…
This hidden decoration allows you to enjoy experimenting with different table settings. Lay the table with the decoration hidden underneath and let your guests discover, or you could turn over your forks only, in the “continental style”, with the tips of the forks resting on the table, showing off the decoration. Or maybe even play with various pieces turned over, or all pieces turned over.
Our Royal Oak cutlery sets, made using high quality 18/10 stainless steel, are available in mirror or gold-plated finish.
