Tilia
The Tilia Tree
The Tilia tree, also referred to as Tilia Cordata or small-leaved lime tree, is native to Europe and typically reaches hights of 25 – 30 metres. They are identifiable by their straight trunks, making them uniform in appearance and perfect for street planting and urban areas. Although frequently called lime, Tilia has no relation to the citrus lime, instead producing flowers which are particularly beneficial to bees. Today Tilia wood is used for piano keys as it doesn’t warp, and the leaves can be turned into tea.

The Design Inspiration
Tilia cutlery features an accentuated long and elegant appearance inspired by the thin, tall trunks of the Tilia trees. The handles have clean, straight lines, with softened edges, while the utensil heads were designed to have a more slender look and feel. The Tilia knives have a lovely weight, the handle is thicker at the bolster area for your first index finger to rest comfortably; the blade transitions from handle into blade gradated without a traditional hard bolster step from handle into blade. This makes the knives feel elegant in the hand.
As with many of our cutlery ranges, Tilia is used by top chefs around the World to enhance the guest experience, for delivering the food elegantly from plate to mouth. Tilia 18/10 stainless steel cutlery sets are available in Mirror, Brushed Satin and Coloured PVD Titanium coated finishes.

Our Tilia finishes
Mirror
Our Mirror finish cutlery is highly polished and has a classic look. At Studio William, our cutlery goes through approximately 45 different polishing processes, to achieve the immaculate finish we look for.
Satin
Our satin cutlery is finely brushed, making it soft to the touch and less reflective. Our Satin cutlery also goes through a similar amount of polishing processes and is carefully quality controlled to ensure we have a consistent finish.
Crackle
The newest addition to the Tilia range adds a textured and tactile element to the otherwise minimal design. Tilia Crackle features a crackle inspired texture debossed into the front and back of each handle, blending seamlessly into each utensil head.
Titanium PVD
The Titanium PVD Coating we use on our cutlery is super tough and non-toxic. It is resistant to acid degradation, dishwasher safe, and does not affect the taste of the food. The colours we currently offer include: Gold, Champagne, Copper, Black, and Chocolate Bronze.
