Studio William's Royal Oak Cutlery: The Story
Like all of our creations, there is so much more to each piece of the Royal Oak collection than just your average eating utensils.
Crafted meticulously to deliver the perfect dining experience: from the carefully considered weight, the graceful design intended to feel as good in the hand as it looks, the exquisite finish that takes us more than 30 expert steps to finesse and of course the materials used, chosen to make each bite you take a delight. Everything about the Royal Oak cutlery is fit for a king, which leads us to the inspiration behind it.
As a British company, proud of our history and heritage, we take great joy in bringing you cutlery that encapsulates an important fragment of our country’s past. The Royal Oak collection gets its name from the story of Charles II of England and his escape from the Roundheads during the Battle of Worcester in 1651, when he sought shelter amongst the great roots of an ancient Oak tree.
Just as the King remained hidden, we have made reference to this age-old tale on each piece of Royal Oak cutlery in the form of ‘The Kings Pattern’ – an elegant motif laid into the handle in luxurious Goldplate or Mirror, which can be displayed with pride on the table in an unconventional layout or hidden underneath, just like King Charles II, in a traditional setting.
